Louis Heims provides entity formation advice and record keeping services, and tax expertise derived from over four decades of practice, encompassing virtually every IRS policy and provision impacting individuals and corporate entities. Mr. Heims received his Bachelor of Arts degree in accounting from Loras College in Dubuque, Iowa and his JD from University of Iowa. He developed a pragmatic understanding of income tax regulations and pitfalls while employed for seven years as a tax auditor by the US Treasury Department, which assigned him large estates and valuations of closely held corporations. Following his stint at the Treasury Department, Mr. Heims applied his tax expertise in a busy private practice in which he was first to prepare and file computerized tax returns in the state of Iowa. In addition to his tax law practice, Mr. Heims’ distinguished professional career extended to negotiating contracts between school boards and teachers unions. The firm now benefits from his broad business experience in consulting with our attorneys to assess tax consequences of our clients’ entity formation structure, revenue derivation, accounting methods, technology and other contractual and business matters. Mr. Heims also manages the Firm’s office and staff.
